Terren

Solar-powered expedition vehicle

A solar-powered electric 4x4 truck designed to establish an EV altitude world record on 6893 meters Ojos del Salado, Chile. At this altitude, electric motors can show off their superiority. The air is too thin for combustion engines and it's a long way to the next gas station. Above the clouds, however, there is always enough sun to charge the batteries.

Very high demands are placed on the tires, because traction is the key factor for a successful outcome of the expedition. Large contact surface, soft and robust rubber compound and a profile that works well on stone and sand are the most important properties.

The roof of the vehicle has built in solar panels. To increase to the surface of solar panels even more the vehicle incorporates mobile units that can collect some extra power.
